Mixed Lighting

The renaissane era was during the 1300s to the 1600s and was a pivative point in history. It was important for cultual, political, economic, and artistic changes.  It was a big time for exploration in europe, they discovered a lot of new technologies and everything made for more advancements. After the black death it decreased the population by millions and lead to people becoming welathier. Many of the greatest artisit were in europe such as Leonardo da Vinci, Botticelli, Michelangelo, Rapheal, and Donatella.  

The artisit of this painting is Ghirlandio, Domenico and he was born in florence and lived from 1449- 1494. People thinks he must have began his training as a apprentice in his dad's garland but no one knows how he started his training as an artist. He enjoyed working on a larger canvases but would use smaller ones for frescoe paintings that he would do on wood panels. Some of his earlist work was in 1472-1473 near florence in the Village Church of Cersina and it's a painting of three saints. Two of his paintings are of the scenes of the life of St. Fina which were both frescoes and was his first commision. All of his paintings were very respected and the his larger paintings required higihly trained artisit. During his era his paintings were very respected and was known as one of the best artist until the 19th century where many critics brought down his repetitions for his realism in his work and now his known for the eloquence in his paintings and is still very admired.

I have chosen Portrait of a Girl, a renaissance painting created by Ghirlandio, Domenico around 1490. The way the girl in the portait is placed is very traditional because she's sitting a quater turned toward the view and many portraits are still placed this way. The coral beads are significant because they are sophisticated and simple for the upper class of women.I'm happy I chose this portrait because it shows the era of the renasissance well with the girl's hairstyle and her clothing.
